Annual Fund

 

A letter from the Annual Fund Chair for the 2009-2010 School Year:

 

Just a few short weeks ago, I drove my son to school for his third first day at DDS.  As I passed through the front gates and approached the main building, with Mr. Cissel greeting each student at the door, I thought – as I often do – how fortunate we are to be here.  Every day, I know my son will have the best day possible.  He is challenged by qualified faculty, directed by caring staff and nurtured on an incredibly beautiful school campus.  With its strong core values, enriched programs, well-rounded academics and outstanding extracurricular activities, I believe that Dutchess Day School is building a solid foundation for his future.

Yet these opportunities come at a price. As the school enhances the depth and breadth of its curriculum to continue to provide quality programs and attract and retain top faculty and students, it must meet the challenge of increasing operating expenses. From teacher salaries to educational materials to the maintenance of the facilities, the bottom line is that tuition alone does not cover the cost of a Dutchess Day School education.

Autumn launches the school’s Annual Fund Campaign.  As it is at any independent school, the Annual Fund is the number one fundraising priority of Dutchess Day School and is the cornerstone of the school’s development program.  The Annual Fund is not a luxury, nor is it a means to raise money for a rainy day.  It is a necessity to cover expenses to educate our children today. 

Did you know…

  • Tuition only covers 85% of the cost of educating our children.

  • The Annual Fund goal is money already spent!  We now need to cover these allocated expenses.

  • The Annual Fund is a tax-deductible opportunity for trustees, parents, past parents, grandparents, alumni/ae, faculty, staff and friends to bridge the gap between tuition revenue and the cost of operating the school.

  • Your contributions through annual giving make an immediate impact.

 

This year, the Board of Trustees at Dutchess Day School is leading the way to a successful Annual Fund with 100% participation in giving.  This is a powerful statement and demonstrates a community commitment to the value of a DDS education.

Please join the board in helping meet our 2009-10 Annual Fund goal of $185,000 and 100% family participation. Each gift, large or small, makes a difference.  We ask that you give to the best of your ability, and that you give as early as you can in the school year.  The sooner you give, the sooner your donation goes to work!

My husband and I are increasing our gift to the Annual Fund this year.  While these are challenging economic times, they are hopeful times.  And what better hope can we give than to the future of our children.

Your donation today is used to support every aspect of life at Dutchess Day School and assists the school in offering an education to our children that empowers them for a lifetime.  As a parent, you can’t ask for more than that!
