Discover DDS
Where Tradition Meets Innovation
Throughout the admissions process, you will have an opportunity to discover Dutchess Day. We are traditional in our roots, yet embody an innovative approach to learning. Our actively engaged students are encouraged to take intellectual, athletic, and artistic risks to develop independence and confidence. Our dynamic teachers set the stage for discovery, exploration, and discussion every day. As both the Director of Admissions and a parent, I am struck every day by the enthusiasm and creativity of those teachers whose dedication is truly impressive.
Learning occurs not only in our classrooms, but also beyond the walls of the school. Students can often be found studying outside on our picturesque 29 acres or elsewhere in the historic Hudson Valley that offers such a wealth of learning environments. The strong academic foundation gained at DDS provides for success well beyond our white picket fence. Our alumni excel at whatever independent or public school they choose and secondary schools are quick to point out the strong academic foundation and confidence our graduates have. Our commitment to giving our students every opportunity to succeed is evident everywhere you look. We are incredibly excited about the changes recently completed here: redesigned science lab, new performing arts center, remodeled classrooms, a new library space, and three new tennis courts.
I am here to help you through the admissions process. I invite you to come and visit our school to experience our amazing community firsthand… see the smiles, hear the laughter, witness spirited discussions, and feel the excitement. We are very much an extended family and would love the chance to welcome you. Please contact me at any point during the admissions process with questions.
All my best,
Christine “Tine” Whiting
