History

The Upper School History program utilizes the Harkness Method to cover the classical origins of Western Civilization and the birth and development of the United States. Students hone and develop their critical thinking and public speaking skills as they engage in interactive discussions which are often times led by their peers. Additionally, students will learn to analyze primary source material and put current events into historical context. Reading comprehension and written expression skills are also a major focus within the discipline.
